my current skincare routine • a deep dive • the body shop skin care routine

it's taken me a while to find what my skin really loves, and I'm so happy that I feel like I've nailed my skincare routine, finally. From what feels like years of buying and trying products, I am now in a place where I am really happy with my routine, and also how my skin looks and feels. I have oily/combination skin, so please keep that in mind if you'd like to try any of the products I've listed - what works well for me might not work well for you, but I hope you enjoy these products - let me know if they work into your own skincare routine!

morning • am the body shop skin care routine

Every morning I get a warm flannel and wash my face. Now, when I say I wash my face, I don't mean cleanse. The only things I use in the morning to wash my face are a clean flannel and some warm water, I'm not using any products, cleansers, or face washes. Just good ole' water!

I then use the Simple Kind To Skin Soothing Facial Toner. I use this in a spray bottle and spray lightly onto my face. It always feels so refreshing and is super lovely in the summer when it's warmer. I used to apply this with a cotton round, but have stopped doing so because I didn't feel like it was really necessary, especially after washing my face with a flannel - I'm not looking to 'cleanse' my face any more by using this product, so it's used directly for prep and to balance the pH of my face.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Eye Cream Kayleigh Cooper Skincare Routine

Next, I use The Body Shop Vitamin E Eye cream. This isn’t new to my skincare routine, as I’ve just replaced my old one with The Body Shop's more updated version of the product (I think they tweaked the formula slightly, and also the packaging). I love it, and it makes my eyes feel nourished and moisturised without feeling too heavy. I always apply using my ring finger, as it applies less pressure to the delicate under-eye area.

The Body Shop Edelweiss Intense Smoothing Cream Moisturiser Kayleigh Cooper Skincare Routine

The next step in my skincare routine is the Body Shop Edelweiss Intense Smoothing Cream. Now I REALLY love this product, in fact, I think I love all of The Body Shop's products in their Edelweiss range. This is my second jar of the Edelweiss Intense Smoothing Cream, and my skin feels so soft and smooth from the first application. It has a light fragrance and absorbs nicely into my skin, and a little goes a long way, so I think it's a fantastic product.

The Body Shop Skin Defence SPF 50+ Kayleigh Cooper Skincare Routine

Now we move onto what I think is the most important part of any skincare routine - SFP. I’m using the Body Shop’s Skin Defence SPF 50+, and always remember, two fingers full of sun protection every day, even in the Winter! I have used other SPF’s and they’ve felt quite heavy on my skin, but The Body Shop’s Skin Defence feels a lot lighter, and absorbs really well, and doesn’t pill, which is something that I have had happen to previous SPF's that I have tried.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Foaming Mousse Kayleigh Cooper Skincare Routine

The products that I use in the evening are The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Clearing Foaming Mousse as my cleanser/exfoliator, which I use about 2 times per week with an exfoliating pad. It's quite a solid cleanser, as in, it's quite difficult to get out of the bottle because the formula is so thick! But apart from that, the product starts off quite firm but then turns into a really nice foam and my skin feels cleansed and clear afterwards, without feeling dry and tight which is a problem I've had before with previous cleansers. The Tea Tree really helps with my oily skin and any spots or redness that I have on my face really calm down after using this product.

I then follow up cleansing with my Simple Skincare toner again, and I also re-apply The Body Shop Vitamin E Eye Cream at night time too.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream Moisturiser Kayleigh Cooper Skincare Routine

And my last skincare step of the day is The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream. It has a delicate fragrance of roses, and I was quite worried about using a non-tea-tree-based moisturiser for nighttime because that is when I feel my skin accumulates most of its oils, but The Body Shop Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream works wonders! My skin feels so moisturised in the morning and looks amazing too. A new firm favourite!

So that's my current morning (and some of my night time) skincare routines! Let me know what you think! And don't forget to use my exclusive code AFFCOOPER for 20% off at The Body Shop!
