The Body Shop Edelweiss Daily Serum Concentrate + Edelweiss Intense Smoothing Cream - Review

Updated: Feb 23

It has only been in the past few years that I have grown to love The Body Shop. When I was younger, I just thought that it was a place my Mum bought her body butters from - that is literally all I knew it for! But now I am an adult I can definitely say that I am in love with all of what The Body is - their ethos, their products, their values as a business - there couldn't be a more 'me' shop. So when I found out they were bringing out a new range of products, I just knew I had to try them.

SKIN TYPE: Oily/Combination

AGE: 26

Tester Time

I was lucky enough to grab hold of a few testers of The Body Shop Edelweiss Daily Serum Concentrate, and the Edelweiss Intense Smoothing Cream before I bought them - which was amazing as these products are on the pricier side of what I would usually pay for skincare, so it was great that I didn't have to commit to buying a full-sized product and not know whether it was good for my skin.

Also, side note: The Body Shop has always been incredibly accommodating and helpful when I have asked for samples. I really would suggest next time you want to try a product out in The Body Shop to ask for a sample!

I received two 5ml sachets each of the Edelweiss Daily Serum Concentrate and the Edelweiss Intense Smoothing Cream, and I was really surprised with how long they lasted. Each sachet got me through three (3!) days of use. I thought I would use up all of the product in one go, so about a week of using these products was fantastic so I could see how they affected my skin. And boy, oh boy, I was not disappointed.

When I finally bought the full-sized versions of The Body Shop's Edelweiss Daily Serum Concentrate and the Edelweiss Intense Smoothing Cream, I was in love with the packaging. I love that The Body Shop has implemented fully recyclable packaging going forward, and I think the glass bottles and jars make the products feel that little bit more luxurious.

I can say outright that both of these products worked really well for my skin. I have never used Edelweiss in a skincare product before and it has worked wonders. My skin has never felt so soft and smooth.

Edelweiss Daily Serum Concentrate

Let's start with the Edelweiss Daily Serum Concentrate - I bought the 30ml bottle for £30, but you can also buy it in a 50ml size for £38. The serum comes in a cute little green bottle with a pipette, so it will definitely look cute on your shelf (or wherever you keep your skincare products). The serum is thicker than I was expecting, as the serums I have used in the past have been oil-based. The consistency of this serum is thick but not sticky, and it absorbs quite quickly too, so this is probably not a serum you'd want to use with a Gua Sha, which is what I used with some other serums that I have.

It has a light and pleasant fragrance and three drops is a perfect amount for full face coverage. Once applied to your face it absorbs quite quickly and doesn't leave any residue or gunk. With a few previous serums I've tried they sometimes leave little gunk-like marks, but the Edelweiss Daily Serum Concentrate sinks right in!

I have found that this serum helps bring down any redness that I have in my face, as I'm quite prone to having redness when I come out of the shower, and from any spots or irritations I have. I can almost instantly see the difference when applying the serum, and from using it for a couple of weeks now, my skin looks clearer, smoother, brighter, and even.

This is definitely going to be a staple in my skincare routine going forward!

Edelweiss Intense Smoothing Cream

The Edelweiss Intense Smoothing Cream is probably the most expensive moisturiser that I have bought, but then again I haven't bought many expensive moisturisers! Coming in at £28 for 50ml, I believe it is very much worth its money, and if I had to pick between the Edelweiss Daily Serum Concentrate, or the Edelweiss Intense Smoothing Cream to keep in my skincare routine, I definitely think it would have to be the Edelweiss Intense Smoothing Cream.

And again, this product comes in a recycled green glass jar, which just makes the product feel *chefs kiss*. And also again, it has a pleasant light fragrance and creamy consistency which feels luxurious and thick.

Applying the cream is a dream, and a little goes a long way! I use three small blobs, and by this I mean I just dab my finger gently into the jar and place the cream onto my forehead and each cheek, and this is usually enough. If I'm feeling extra bougie I dab a little onto my neck too. I do feel like I have to work the cream in a little bit before it fully absorbs, but it doesn't take long at all before it does, as after all this is the Intense Smoothing Cream, and not the Smoothing Day Cream, which I am only assuming is a little bit thinner in its consistency.

Upon applying my skin looked incredible - it looked soft, plump, clear, and fresh. I couldn't believe how fast it worked, and now having used it every day for a few weeks I can say that my skin has looked INCREDIBLE every day. My skin has stayed clear, soft, and fresh looking.

This was definitely my favorite product out of the two I bought, and is going to be a permanent staple in my skincare routine going forward! I would definitely recommend this product to anyone - and please try and get your hands on some samples before committing to a full-sized product - you might as well!

I am excited to try the other products in The Body Shop's Edelweiss range, and I'll be writing a review on here as soon as I do!
